First and foremost, decide your goal for this session and clearly convey that to your therapist. In general, there are three choices:
Relaxation Massage: This style of massage is geared toward relaxation and renewal. If you feel overworked and exhausted, this would be a great choice.
Precision Neuromuscular Therapy: PNMT addresses specific muscular discomfort in a very targeted and goal oriented manner. If your main concern is a specific discomfort, PNMT is the right choice for you.
Craniosacral Therapy: A form of bodywork or alternative therapy using gentle touch to palpate the synarthrodial joints of the cranium. A practitioner of cranial-sacral therapy may also apply light touches to a patient’s spine and pelvic bones.
What to Wear or Bring
Most importantly, we want you to be comfortable. For a Relaxation Massage, remove only as much clothing as you are comfortable. Our draping techniques are quite functional, leaving only the body part we are treating exposed. If you are having a PNMT session, men will leave on shorts, women will have a pair of shorts and a sports bra.
Please also tell your therapist if the temperature is comfortable. Your body temperature may drop by the end of the session, necessitating an additional cover. If you would like different music, or anything in the environment needs to change, please tell the therapist.
Working with Tender Areas
For those of you who wish to have specific problem areas addressed, there are a lot of misconceptions about the appropriate amount of pressure for massage. There are two major ones with the first being ‘More is better!’ and the other ‘The therapist must sense what I feel.’
For more information about working within tender areas, contact your therapist and they will address your needs and make sure you feel comfortable and are knowledgeable in all the ways they will handle the areas of your concern.
What to Expect After
After any effective intervention, there is a certain rebalancing as your body adjusts. Just exactly how your body will respond is very individual. Here are some common responses:
1. You may leave our office feeling physically energized and yet internally quiet.
2. You may feel tired after your session. This is often most true if you have been over-stressed and overworked.
3. Post-treatment soreness can happen if there has been a build-up of tension in the area worked.
4. You may experience a state of hyperawareness; both mentally and physically.
Using long & rhythmic strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial muscles. Gentle to intermediate pressure is used to release stiffness & fatigue from your body while improving circulation. Intended to induce relaxation, relieve stress and offer a sense of well-being.
This full body treatment is the most requested & a client favorite. The Signature Massage has the foundation of the Full Body Relaxation massage with extra time spent in tension areas to release deep rooted soreness. Relax & realign tissue fibers. You get the best of both worlds!
Using doTERRA® essential oils along energy meridians and visceral contact points of the back and feet to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems in your body. Reduces physical and emotional stressors, supports healthy emotional and physiological functions, and provides a grounding experience.healing benefits. The AromaTouch Technique is also about connecting with another person on an emotional level.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) uses a variety of trigger point techniques to provide a deep and lasting release of your muscular problems. It’s a different way of approaching and thinking about the body. Instead of just masking the pain, we try to fix the source of the problem.
This treatment is an interactive session which is much more focused and precise, not just deeper pressure. If your main concern is a specific discomfort or lack of movement, NMT is the right choice for you.
Cutting, Trimming, Skin Prep: $20 fee for 20 minutes of assessment and tape application
The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.
The Kinesio® Taping Method is a therapeutic taping technique not only offering your patient the support they are looking for, but also rehabilitating the affected condition as well. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesio® Tex Tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.
Reiki uses a technique commonly called palm or hands on healing.
Through the use of this technique, practitioners transfer universal energy (i.e., reiki) in the form of qi (Japanese: ki) through the palms, which they believe allows for self-healing and a state of equilibrium.
